Are aliens “mythical creatures”? What is a mythical creature? Mythical creatures like fairies and unicorns are things that we can’t prove exist, and may not ever be able to definitively prove or disprove, but the idea of them lives on because we keep telling each other stories about them.
So to me, the line between “mythical creatures”, cryptids (e.g. Bigfoot, Nessie), and space aliens is a very blurry one. So yes, I’m counting aliens as a mythical creature.
I still like alien myths and movies, but when I was a kid, I was really into them. I could list you the kinds of close encounters ( 1st Kind: “Hey, look at that fast, pretty light in the sky!” — 2nd Kind: “Hey, that shadowy figure dropped something I can sell to the Enquirer right before he disappeared!” — 3rd Kind: “Hey, what are you going to do with that device there? Don’t you think you should buy me dinner first?”), and I could list you several types of spacecraft and aliens common to alien/UFO sightings.
This guy here is what is known as a Gray, Grey, or Zeta Reticulan (because some abducted lady said she saw a chart of the Zeta Reticuli system in the ship she was taken to).
These are maybe the most popular conception of “space aliens” and are usually described as short, strangely proportioned little gray guys with ginormous heads and equally ginormous eyes (but most other features, like the nose and mouth, are absent or subtle).
And, while I think that 99% of the people claiming sightings, abductions and the like are simply full of it, I do hold out hope that someday we will discover extraterrestrial life – though it will probably be more on the microbial end of the scale than it will be the “take me to your leader” end.
What’s your opinion? Do aliens exist?
